The Art Of Noise
Welcome to Grandprixart.com, the website of Kingston, SW London based motorsport artist Tim Westlake.
“The 1930’s through to the 1970’s were for me the Golden Era of motor sport. The cars and motor cycles of that time provide the inspiration for my artwork, the riders and drivers, figures of heroism.
As a child I was always drawing racing cars, motorbikes, anything that said speed, but it took me another thirty years before trying my hand with a paint brush. When I left school I took an apprenticeship as a paint sprayer in the automotive trade, so one way or another I’ve been painting cars for a long time.
My first painting was of Sir Jack Brabham which led to a commission for one of Dan Gurney. I’d had my eureka moment.
After all these years, I still love my cars and bikes. Nothing much has changed really……”.
